Braintree Town (H) Preview (Sat 3pm)
Boss Gary Whild believes entertainment is a given at Saturday’s kids-for-a-quid game between Harriers and Braintree Town at Aggborough.
The Iron visit Worcestershire looking to continue a positive start to the season, while the reds will look to build on the confidence of Monday’s Bank Holiday comeback at Tranmere Rovers.
And with the club looking to attract more supporters with a positive pricing initiative, the manager feels the timing is good and that plenty of action awaits those in attendance.
Having witnessed some thrilling encounters against the Essex club in his time at Aggborough, Whild knows precisely what to expect against Saturday’s visitors.
He told Harriers PlayerHD: “I can remember a 5-4 win here in my first season at the club.
“I think the thing you can say about Braintree, whenever you play them, at whatever stage of the season and with whatever is on the game, it’s always a difficult one.
“We’ve found that against them and I am sure Saturday will be no different – they have a manager who is fresh to this level and he’s looking to put his stamp on things.
“They’ve always had a nucleus of hard, tried and tested players at this level and they bring that experience and nous to the team.
“They have exciting players, too, so whenever you face them you know you’re in for a game.”
The manager confirmed that defender Kelvin Langmead has continued full training with the rest of the squad this week.
The on-loan Ebbsfleet United man hasn’t featured since the opening day of the season because of a heel problem.
Whild added: “He’s been back in training and has trained hard, so that’s a massive positive for him and for us because we’ve missed him.
“Fingers crossed he’ll be fit for Saturday – he’s disappointed and is aware that he hasn’t been able to help the lads so far, so let’s hope he’s back in contention.
“He has something about him and is a character, so touch wood; he’ll be back and have no further problems.”
Kick-off at Aggborough on Saturday is at 3:00pm.
