Disappointing result having been in front for so long and been the better team. A few changes in personnel from Saturday saw Brundle return at right back, Isaac for Davis, Chiedozie for Cheek and Akinola for Miles. As both teams lined up there was some difference in the comparable height of the two teams. Braintree countered this disadvantage by keeping the ball on the floor, with Woodyard and Isaac constantly pressing in midfield. Despite all their possession, Chiedozie was often left isolated up front and little was created in the way of clear opportunities. In fact the best chance fell to the Shots from a corner when their towering centre back headed towards goal and another header was cleared off the line and finally bundled behind.Braintree finally broke the deadlock with a goal conjured up from Sparkes left boot, a deep pinpoint cross which appeared to hit Chiedozie on the back of his head and flew in. Alderhot's response was another header from a free kick which went over off the bar. In the second half Braintree persisted with their high tempo pressing and keeping the ball on the deck, but unable to find a telling pass. They were almost gifted a second as Woodyard closed down the keeper who's clearance hit Woodyard and rebounded agonisingly close to goal. As the half went on Aldershot began to play with more authority and their equaliser was a poor goal from a Braintree perspective. They started getting more balls into the box and when one cross broke loose, their player having missed the ball altogether with his first effort, was allowed a second attempt after not being closed down. The game had now swung in their favour and another right wing cross to the far post saw Brodie score with a powerful header. Apart from the Lincoln game all the results to date have been close. I think at home we need to be a bit more offensive, especially in finding that second goal.

I don't know whether it was the heavy conditions or the fact both teams played just 48hrs earlier that the game was played at a really slow pace. It was when the Iron stepped up the 'tempo' just after the half hour mark which lead to us taking the lead. In the second half we conceded far too much possession and kept clearing the ball to the opposition or out of play a goal to the shots was inevitable. After that they played with confidence their No6 Oliver and 14 Beckles cleared up most of our attacks and started theirs. A good header by Brodie which bounced in from the inside of the post. Unlike Saturday the substitutions failed to change the game. Perhaps the break until Saturday will help the team get their Mojo back.

Too many misplaced passes for me

ironfoureva is right, a poor misplaced pass by Kenny led to them breaking away on the right wing which led to the cross they scored their winner from. Also IMO Will Norris is suspect on deep crosses and Aldershot played more on that after his unneccesary collision with Mark Phillips.
