INJURY & SIGNING UPDATE
Matt Fry latest, plus two new loan signings
Danny Cowley has added two players to his squad prior to tonight's National League trip to Bromley, one as cover for the injured Matt Fry. After Matt Fry was stretchered off the pitch in the dying moments of the Tranmere Rovers game Saturday, I think we all feared the worst. There looks to be some ligament damage to his knee, the extent of this we will not know until the inflammation settles down. However, we are hoping that it is not as bad as we first feared. We are keeping everything crossed as Matt has made a really good start to his Braintree Town career.
As a direct consequence of this, the Club are pleased to announce the loan signing of Tom Dallison from Brighton Hove Albion. Tom is a talented centre half, who enjoyed a fantastic football education at Arsenal before signing a two-year deal of Brighton Hove Albion.
Manager Danny Cowley said: "Tom has already gained experience last year playing in the conference and has enjoyed a really successful preseason playing regularly for Brighton's first team. He's a good size, enjoys defending but is also composed on the ball. Tom is on an upward curve and this is a very important season in his development. We look forward to working with him and think we will be good for each other."
The Iron manager has also agreed to take Jordan Chiedozie from Cambridge United on a short term loan. A striker who come up through the ranks at Bournemouth FC, Jordan fell out of professional football at the end of the 2013/14 season. He was immediately signed by Danny at Concord Rangers and, after an excellent start to the season - scoring eight goals in as many games, he signed an 18 month contract at Cambridge United FC.
Danny said: "Jordan is someone that I know well. He made an instant impact when he was with me at Concord Rangers. Although he was irreplaceable to us at the time, we were very pleased when he got his much deserved move to Cambridge United. He has pace, excellent movement and is as brave as they come. Most importantly he is forward who is desperate to score goals, every time he steps on to the pitch. Jordan comes to us, frustrated at a lack of game time and desperate to play. I like Jordan when he is in this place, focused and with a point to prove!"
