Is the supporters club there for all its members or just those that they want to travel to away games?

In an ideal world the supporters club should be there to get as many fans to each and every game be it home or away.... The way the team has played this pre-season with fast flowing attacking football we all need to put an effort in to get the word out be it through social media or fly posting!
The away travel is there for all to use and is run by a core of 12 fans that travel week in week out and in the view of some run it in a way to their benefit!
We have the luxury of the fixtures for the whole season barring any postponements but still only seem able to plan for the next 3 imminent fixtures.... Perhaps it may be an idea to plan a bit further ahead maybe incorporate the next 6 away fixtures and then in response to interest sort out the relevant travel be it a 15 seat minibus, 32 seat coach or 75 seat double decker! It's never easy to organise but a little bit more forward thinking may get more people to travel regularly!!

Totally agree iimb, saying a list is full 11 days and 19 days in advance is really not trying to get as many members or iron fans in general to an away fixture

I gave you explanations yesterday, castirongooner. It was something beyond our control for why we could only provide a minibus for the Chester match (we were fully wanting to run a coach), for which we have said sorry for. You have only started this thread to cause trouble.
And iron in me blood, you say that we only plan for 3 matches ahead, but we are taking names for 5 trips at the moment.

Guys please no fighting. Look for me the away travel is neither here nor there as I would travel to away matches under my own steam. I take my hat off to anyone who wants to liaise with coach companies and potential patrons. Issuesshould be sorted face tto face. Or perhaps as a club we could run a car share club or similar. I shall be going to some away games and happy to give people lifts. For the cost of petrol and ware and tare being covered. I have a 7 seater and not always full. I shall be posting on here if seats available and on Facebook. Stuart keep doing what your doing.

Be careful what you write on here Simon as you could well get Hairy Dan trying to hitch a lift with you and offering up his 50p pocket money for the fare!

5 matches that are only within 3 weeks of now and understandably the coach company's will struggle to accommodate!
think what you need to do is put them up a good 6 weeks in advance and even more importantly don't state that it's going to be a cramped 17 seat minibus that way it will still give a good 3 initial weeks to see what numbers you have before choosing and confirming the mode of transport!! A lot of people quite simply can't or won't travel on the minibus and ultimately end up driving themselves
For example how many more would rather pay to travel on the Coach that the team used last season that has hot drinks facility, microwave, fridge and most importantly toilet on board!!!
You have a great opportunity with the in-appropriately named half time draw and with a little more work could make a lot more out of this which would help to bring the price down and make it more affordable for all to travel and not just those that can't be bothered to get a job and expect for those that do work to pay extra!

I quite often go into shops n pubs on giro day asking for discount as I can't be bothered to go out and get a job, don't get any joy as they all say that they are already paying for my lifestyle in their taxes!! I can't argue with that- but perhaps an extra shot in the pub may be nice for a regular customer!

I also have no toilet on board but will be offering a delicious variety of haribo and starburst for the journey. Tea coffee not included.

Stuart I understand that you were unable to find a coach for the Chester and Bromley games but my point is why don't the supporters club post saying there starting a second list and providing another driver comes forward they will try and book a second minibus given that there is still over a week till the game

If it does, then we will hopefully be updating forum tomorrow.

You have only started this thread to cause trouble. I know what you mean Stuart. There was some eejit on Facebook yesterday accusing the Club of paying three new appointments that are, in fact, volunteers. Danny and I had been working hard to get the three to volunteer for the Club and one was so disappointed by the mis-informed comment that he offered to stand down!

I didn't start the thread to cause trouble, I tried to raise valid points about second lists on the appropriate threads but my comments were deleted and then messages sent saying that my questions had been answered on Facebook (not everyone on this forum is on Facebook!) and that purpose of the travel threads is ONLY for people to add there names to the travel lists!
If the boot was on the other foot I'm sure you'd be annoyed in the same circumstances!

Hiring coaches for fickle fans can be frustrating. I know I did the hiring not only for supporters but the team as well for a year. The years when we did it for supporters only, some pledged to go and then changed their minds, others were no shows on the day, worse still some who had their names on the clubhouse list, were no shows only to be seen at the match because a mate had decided to go and drive. The only thing which never varied was the fact the coach company had to be paid and running the thing at a loss is not an option.
Stuart I don't envy you mate.
