This is the third instalment in a run of difficult games for us. Can we turn our approach game into goals for this one? We'll know that at 10 to 5. Live commentarty by BBC Humberside here: www.bbc.co.uk/englandcms/livestreams/int7.asx

Morning Phil.
Up and its a dull windy cloudy day. Bit of a trip again but you know the iron. Hopefully we are all fit after Tuesdays match.
I think 2/3 wins and we are safe this season.

Going on the commentary this wasn't a great game with the experience not really added to by the very parochial commentary duo. So it appears we've again let our opposition off the hook. It looks as if we should have gone ahead early doors, in fact it was reported that some of our boys had prematurely celebrated a goal when the ball had neither crossed the line nor gone dead, with a further effort then blasted over when a bit of accuracy was needed. It's a pity Chez was given his marching orders as up until that point he may have been heading as our man of the match. The commentating duo couldn't quite get their heads around Devs greeting Chez's dismissal by putting his arm round him as if to console him. One saying "surely this is not something a Manager should accept lightly as his offence will more than likely damage his teams chances of getting a result a fine is the appropriate response". A fair point imo.
I'm not going to say well done for losing three out of three in our tough trio of away matches, losing three straight on the bounce isn't bad luck because in this game you make your own luck, particularly across the course of a season and of course scoring goals helps no end.
We have Macclesfield on Tuesday and as they went down 0-4 today we should at least be expecting to get points from the game. It now appears that we only have survival left on the seasons agenda and when considering the potential quality of the team, this has to be seen as a season of frustration and under-achievement. To rub it in our 'would have been' trophy opponents North Ferriby of the Connie north division have just booked their place for a Wembley final - congrats to "our friends from the north".

When at half time we slowed down the recording of the goal line effort from our boy's in Grimsby's boardroom. It was agreed by both Grimsby and Braintree Directors it was a goal. The whole of the ball had crossed the line.
I missed the coach and drove 380 miles to see the game and again we did everything to at lease shared the point's. but again we did not take our chance's.
When you think this year we had more forwards than any other year yet we score less goals.
6 point's to be safe next 2 games.

If only we had goal line technology at this level Barry. There does remain the question as to why the assistant didn't see the goal. I wonder was he up with play and did the referee not wish to check with him? At all professional rugby league games here and I suspect also in England they employ the video ref where a panel looks at contested tries. The decision is removed from the referee and touch judges as TV replays like the one you would have viewed almost certainly have a better view as does goal line technology.
I don't suppose that this technology is realistic at non-league level, but in this day and age the very best in the name of fairness is worth considering. If the captains have the option to request the ref halt play for a few mins to adjudicate on incidents and I'm now thinking of moments like when last week Rooney went down after losing control of the ball, conned the ref and the keeper is then assumed to have impeded the striker. Rooney gets a penalty and the innocent keeper carded. So in my plan Captains get two calls per match, but to police this from being another area to cheat, if two wrong calls are made in one match then that team will loses the right to make any calls for the next two games.
This would be particularly advantageous in countries like the USA and Australia where other codes are preferred over football. You couldn't count the number of times you hear on talksport type phone-ins, football being maligned as a game for cheats to feign injury or con referees into making bad wrong calls. It's used as evidence that football is not only a game for pussy-cats but also one that rewards cheats.

Three defeats at three testing away locations at least we weren't humiliated by any of the results and the reports showed we gave each opposition a good game. It looks like we have enough points banked to get over this period and the clubs below haven't been on any three win winning streaks to put pressure on us. I would like to see us get on track against Macclesfield as I went there on our first match of this season and have been perplexed ever since of how they reached the top six of the league!

You make sound and reasonable arguments; however today's game is all about what players can get away with, how far they can push the boundaries. Appealing for penalties every time the ball hits someone in the area; falling over at the slightest touch, not putting the ball in the corner quadrant, holding on to the ball/standing in front of the ball having given away a free kick, the list goes on. More pressure is heaped on referees and they need help from players and managers alike.

When you think this year we had more forwards than any other year yet we score less goals. Well we did have quite a few forwards until 2 of them were loaned out and leaving us not being able to put hardly anyone on the bench! Ridiculous!

Ridiculous! you have to wonder the logic in having the marquee player out on loan when the bench is so thin and Mr Marks cant hit a barn door.
