I fielded half a dozen or more questions last night from Iron fans who had been to the epic F.A. Trophy trip to North Ferriby in the 2001-02 season but couldn't recall all the details......
The 4th Round tie was played on 2nd Feb 2002, and finished 4-4. Our goals were scored by Nicky Simpson (3) and Steve Blaney.
Our team was Paul Catley, David Culverhouse, Craig Davidson, Gavin Cowan, Gary Waters, Robbie Reinelt, Nicky Simpson, Dean Parratt, Tommy Noble, Nicky Smith, Steve Blaney. Used Sub - Brad Quinton. Unused Subs - Mark Jones, Brett Girling, David Kreyling, Simon Morden.
Att. 381 Iron Manager - Ben Embury
The replay was played on 12th Feb at Cressing Road. After a 2-2 draw (goals from Cowan & Simpson), we won 5-4 on penalties. Our successful spot kick takers were Smith, Reinelt, Jones, Simpson & Quinton. Davidson missed.
The very next night we entertained Halstead in the East Anglian Cup, and won that game on penalties too.

The replay was one of the most exciting games I've ever watched, including some years at West Ham. I suspect I wasn't the only one who thought B Q was going to sky his pen, but he did the business. A great night.

To be fair the first game was a classic.....3-1 down at half time with biting rain and wind it was not looking good we actually went 4-3 up and they had the bare face cheek to equalise late - they were a real nice bunch and since my visit I always look out for their scores. The boy selling the programmes at the gate was from the eastend and was great for banter.........
