This should be a very winnable one for us today, but there again I thought that when they were playing us at Cressing Road back in August when we appeared to be coasting to victory 1-0 up at half time. But three second half goals soon changed that. For those of us not at the game BBC Essex commentary of the game can be had at this link: www.bbc.co.uk/englandcms/livestreams/int16.asxCalling the game will be the very excellent Paul Garrity ably assisted by our very own Gordon Humphris.

3-2 to the Iron after conceding a goal from a corner we go up the other end and score! Second goal by Jordan Cox now substituted.

Am I seeing things or have we actually just come back from being behind to win a game? When did that happen last???

Fantastic, something we haven't done for a long time, won after being a goal down. Wasn't confident when I saw the starting line-up, but pleased for Jordan and can't wait to read the report from those supporters who went. Great start to the New Year.

Good to see Jordan & Kenny start and both score; hope Jordan has now done enough to justify a regular starting berth.

Great to see we can actually battle back to win from a goal down! Think that's 5 wins from last 6 games in all comps. Keep that going n we'll have those 50 points by early February ))))

What a day, will let someone else explain our adventure. Gordons article this coming week should be a very good read. Kenny top notch again, when his on it class. Fantastic result for Jordan, who is work in progress and one for the future. When bobby and myself saw this lad at the Upton Park tournament a couple of seasons ago, raw but showed something. Well done to bobby for getting him for pre season as he had to step up from ryman north and playing on Sundays. Jordans not ready yet to play from the start game wise to many times in a row. But he will do in time and will score many a goal in the Braintree shirt.

Also looking forward to Gordons article, just to find out how we left Chester at 6.00 and pulled in to our ground at 9.00. Not complaining though, was a great day. Thanks again Gordon.

Thanks to the fortitude and quick thinking the day was saved by volunteer drivers, how Jerry got all the kit in his car is a mystery, particularly two kit boxes an a bag of footballs. We did make good time coming home mainly due to the fact that we didn't stop, and made steady progress at 70mph!! Seriously it was a great gutsy result, a pleasure to commentate on and I hope all who listened in felt the excitement and tension the game had about it. I thought Matt would sleep all the way home after the shift he put in but he must of been quite buzzing as he was awake all the way back!!! Carl P was just so relaxed, Kev kept me awake and attentive thanks to his bouts of nasal tonal athletics!!! But it was a pleasure helping the club out of what might have been an awkward situation.

Went up to Chester on Friday in my pikey van hoping for a nice day in Chester on Saturday before the game on Sunday.
Well it pissed down on Sat so went to the local pub instead (much better idea). Anyway comes the day of the game and in the morning a severe frost and will the match go ahead?
Pleased to say it did (thanks Chester volunteers) and the IRON duly performed to bring home the 3points. Not going to analyse the match too much, but when Sparksy came on we had a new option in a winger to put in crosses for Jordan etc to put pressure on their keeper and defence and it worked a treat.
Wingers it seems are not the flavour of the month these days but Sparksy changed the game and if we had a right sided winger as well and got more early balls in the box as we did against Chester then we surely would have a better attacking option.

I've been saying that for years Les, you can never be offside from a ball played in from the byline ie: the first goal, like you say mate with a winger each side you can really create problems, James is good on the right but tends to go inside near to the box maybe when Ryan gets fit at least you will have the wing back option that works well, it is already happening on the left with Sam and Dan. It will be interesting to see how we raise our game against Gosport on Saturday.

Interesting comments about wing play.
I've said many times that Sparksy is my preferred wide left player. This season, Dev's went with Dan Walker for a while, and more recently with Simeon. With Simeon, I've had to eat my words a little, as he is so dangerous with the ball, running at defenders, and generally creating havoc, and frequently earning the MoM award. He does seem to prefer to cut inside, and hang on to the ball for a while, but he is very talented, and very dangerous, as we've all seen.
At least Sparksy has reminded Dev's of his existence. If I think back to our early season run of victories, he was ever present, until his injury at Eastleigh.
If we want an early dangerous ball into the box, then he is our man. If we want to attack defenders and draw fouls, the Simeon is our man.
I'd prefer to see Simeon play upfront, but as we all say, we only have opinions - Dev's makes the decisions, and so far, over an extended period, he hasn't let us down, and I bow to his better knowledge of the players and opponents.
It's great that our players are causing him selection headaches again.
