IRON AT HOME IN THE TROPHY
St. Neots Town or AFC Sudbury to visit a week on Saturday
Braintree Town have been drawn at home to the winners of the Third Qualifying Round Replay between St. Neots Town and AFC Sudbury in the First Round of this season's FA Trophy competition. The replay will take place at AFC Sudbury's Brundon Lane stadium on Tuesday evening, with kick-off at 7.45pm.
FA TROPHY DRAW TODAY
Braintree enter the Road to Wembley at last 64
The draw for the First Round of this season's FA Trophy takes place at Wembley Stadium today. The 32 ties are scheduled to be played on Saturday 13th December, with the winners each picking up £5,000 from The FA's prize fund. This is the stage when the 24 Vanarama Conference clubs enter the competition to join the forty qualifiers who have battled their way through from the preliminary round and three qualifying rounds.
Cambridge United, last season's Wembley winners, won't be defending the Trophy, having been promoted to the Football League last May, but runners-up Gosport Borough have started their involvement already, having come in at the Third Qualifying Round stage on Saturday with a 4-0 victory at Peacehaven & Telscombe. Local interest includes neighbours Bishop's Stortford (4-3 winners over Chelmsford City in Saturday's Third Qualifying Round) and AFC Sudbury (who will need a replay after drawing 1-1 at St. Neots Town).
Last season Iron defeated Welling United 3-0 at Cressing Road in the First Round, before bowing out in the Second Round 3-1 at home to Lincoln City. We will have the draw here as soon as it is released by The FA.
