After the game on Saturday I took my time to think about the next few weeks and where the iron are going.
First. Team performance against chesterfield below par, Our team needs to go out at Dover and show the fan's the true Iron Spirit.
Second. The squad needs to be trimmed now that players are getting fit.
Third. Maybe a experienced forward or midfield player need's to be added to squad.
Fourthly. Us fan's need to stick by team for next few week's as we are playing 2 six pointers against Dover and Telford and some good performances would change
our outlook on the future.
I have great faith in our management team and I Know they will sort it out.
Having watched Match of the day highlights. Well done to 2 ex iron players Dan Holman at Aldershot great cross for Aldershots 1 st goal, and Stefen Paine for his goal that Knocked out Morcombe.
Just my THOUGHTS

I think that the modest crowd yesterday reflects the type of football we've been playing recently. Too much long hopeful balls punted upfront, to a single striker. Aside from the Weymouth replay, we haven't scored in 7, (and only 2 in 11) which to me says that our attacking plans are not working.
When I think back to when we were scoring a few more, and I accept that we've never scored goals in abundance, it's when we played 4-4-2 with wide players, and then actually used them.
This is only a gut-feel, and not necessarily factual, but it feels as if we look more threatening when we get the ball wide, and deliver into the box, where two strikers rather than one can cause problems for defences. I think that all coincides with our good run of games.
I recall when we played Dover the first time around, Alan scored two from Sparkes deliveries.
So, let's forget long ball, get Ryan/James working down the right, and Sam/Dan S down the left, and get two in the box.
It may mean dropping some of the 'favourites', but unless we turn this around soon, we might find ourselves in a relegation battle, and with our current run of form being the worst in the league, we don't need that to happen.

With a fully fit squad to choose from, Sean would not be in my starting eleven. Unfortunately, we have not had that recently. My point was that the Barnet Parrot keeps repeating itself. By all means have an opinion, but something original please.
Not unlucky, just bad defending, something that has plagued us all season.

ad75: makes the most sense so far in this conversation and I agree about getting the ball wide. looking back at last season we were most effective when Mensa was tearing down one wing and Mulley the other. (Mulleys not the same player this season) I would like to see Strutton come on from the start of the game at Dover playing alongside Jordan Cox, OK Jordan's having a bit of a rough time at the moment but I feel that Charlie could chivvy him along. I would also give Anikola more of a free role on the wing.

Perhaps we could get Jakubiak back as he seems to be banging them in for Oxford (not!). Why are you concerning yourself with one of Watford's U21 players? They are pleased with his progress I can tell you that. What do you expect of a 17/18 year old youth player? In fact tell me over a pint on Saturday after the home game.

Think the phrase was barring a calamity the defenders will swallow those long balls all day long. Sounds dull match

Think the phrase was barring a calamity the defenders will swallow those long balls all day long. Sounds dull match This is definitely the worst commentary I've ever listened to. It sounds like we're overhearing a couple of geezers sitting on a park bench yakking about Dover FC. So this is BBC Essex's idea of how to cover their local Conference team and it's not as if the County has many of them! No excuse by them to not cover this game from a Braintree angle. Their usual excuse - both Colchester and Sarfend are playing so they're stretched doesn't apply, BBC Kent are not only covering our match at Dover, they're also covering Dartford v Welling and Gillingham v Crawley. Obviously a case of lazyitis or just couldn't be arsed! Disappointing by us again, only one up front. You can't expect to win a game if you ain't looking to score a goal or two.

Dover and Braintree - definitely a tale of two teams. We're first out the blocks when the season starts and hit them with an easy 3-0 win, we didn't even need strikers to do it. Turn the clock forward a few months we're bounced out the cup 6-0 while they make national headlines by knocking out league opposition and then they beat us tonight, just when you might expect their team to have their minds on something else.
Such is the life of a football supporter.

Another goal less and point less game and according to the BBC website nothing on target. Something has to change this is relegation form in the past the Braintree "spirit" has got us through but it seems to be a thing of the past.

I don't remember if it was you or notleykev who had to mention that he had scored for Oxford on his loan debut. Neither of you were particularly happy with my comments about him last season. So sorry for "concerning" myself with him; but one of you two Watford fans raised it in the first place! I have no beef with Watford and even praised Mensah on this board, Pity Barnet got to take him on. Your views often seem obscured by your allegiance to the mighty Hornets; whilst mine remain balanced on what I see. I feel notley kev's personal attack calling me a "Barnet Parrot" and boring, was unjust. For a man in his position within the club and within the society, he needs to look at himself before putting others down. Thank you for your offer of a pint.

Time to move on from this boring stuff are you guys aware of the personal messenging facility to chat to each other.
Until such time we have more strikers here we have to carry on with what we have. Even Rooney last season went a 15 game spell without scoring.
Pick the side but it's not a great idea to dump on a player already lacking confidence.
