This game looks to be an Everest for our boys to climb, that said we don't shirk a challenge as Luton last season and Mansfield the year before can testify. There will be BBC Essex commentary of the game, whether this service is still available overseas remains to be seen as Saturdays match commentary failed for me. The link to the stream is here: www.bbc.co.uk/englandcms/livestreams/int18.asx

It's going to be tough, but that's when we shock everybody. For those who went to last years game, can you remember if there was plenty of parking at that ground, or what it a case of look out for some street parking? Cheers.

Marks & Walker start up front; so 0-0 is best hope.

Looks like no BBC commentary, only Barnet's (presumably pay).

3-0, we got off lightly. I fear for an early cup exit on Saturday. At least Marks will miss 3 matches.

Saturdays a different challenge altogether. Often it's said that players who've been under the pump in the league can enjoy the diversion of a cup game, we hope that's true and I'm confident that we'll win it.
We also know that there was match commentary because after the Colchester game on the normal BBC Essex internet feed, Glenn Speller was speaking about it and even mentioned that our Gordon was summarising, so presumably it clicked on at some stage?

The challenge got tougher when Sam was not fit to play, and Kenny got injured in the warm up.
It meant Smith at left back, and only two outfield subs.
As usual the fans did their best, unlike Marksy. It was a blatant elbow, and I'm surprised it took the Ref so long to send him off. He let his team mates down very badly.
Overall, the boys did as well as they could, but it was always an uphill struggle. At least we can say that Barnet have never beaten us in an 11-a-side match!!
So, after no win in 7, let's hope the FA Cup helps revitalise us back to winning ways.

Apart from the injuries mentioned by ad75 above, Omar Sowumni our loan player from Ipswich was also injured yesterday morning in training. It never rains but it pours!!
We were only able to field 3 subs last night (one of which was Carl Pentney) which means we at best have 13 fit outfield players and some of those are carrying knocks.
Under the circumstances the boys played their hearts out last night and IMO did well to keep it 3-0.

Cannot remember a series of injuries as bad as this in my 12 years at the Club. But we Iron folk love a challenge!
Well done (in particular) to the lads who gave everything last night, despite not being 100% fit.

not the first time Marks has let the side down is it ..... he knows the squad is thin on ground and does that, you would have thought he would fight for his place having been out. Get rid of him !!
Also why not take some reserve players or academy players to fill the bench, very amateur not to have a full bench for a local game.

Here is one for you. Along with subs and injuries what about this for a team. Petney Case Showumni Clerima Habergham Paine Maybanks Davis Akinola Strutton Bakarare
None of these players started last night and it goes to show the depth of our problems at the moment.
Also leave dbbn alone he is giving his opinion of which I believe is many a true fans view not just the kiss asse ones !

The game itself, Well ref was a joke how he dished out no cards to them was a disgrace, What about when Stack hauled down Jordan? nothing given. To be fair the lads did well to keep it only 3-0 considering how badly let down they were from Seans reckless elbow bear in mind that he was captain and meant to be leading by example having just gone 1 down.Poor . very poor. From then on I think we all felt that we was going to get hammered so credit to the lads for that. Football in a library was limited due to 3/4 of the game played at a slow pace due to the unbalanced numbers and we even managed a couple of shots most notably from Sparkes and Walker and loved it when Simeon came on and beat 7 players on a run. The signs are there for us to be a good team but silly mistakes and lack of clinical goal threat, vast injuries are making us slide down the table. Together we will get through this and listening to the fans we accept this. Team Ratings Nik 5 - Possibly unsited for the first 2 goals looked to have a barney with Ryan which not good. Ryan 6 - Lost ball too easily 2nd half but was more of a captain than sean would ever be. Alan 6.5 Tried and tried dealt with Akinde well again, Great block in first half Mitch 5 - Poor game again needs confidence boost Steve 6 - Filled in for Sam well not the quickest but dealt with attacks well Chez 6.5 Covered most blades of grass yet again James 6 Shuffled into the middle and mainly overrun Sparkes 5 - Still looks injured and 3 player onto him when he got the ball Dan 7 MOTM For me anyway attacked well and played his part repelling attacks Jordan 3- Woeful and looked like energy had been sucked out of him prior to kick off. Fans bear in mind this kid has been carrying our limp attack for weeks he is young and needs support also he is prob our 4/5 choice striker at start of season ! Sean 1 - And thats for the header that almost put jordan through. Look for all the Sean lovers out there. As a captain you have a responsibility to lead the team and play fair, A elbow deliberatly thrown in the face of the centre back does not constitute that.28 mins had gone having just gone agoal down given the teams injury frailties he let himself the management and his team mates down, His goals record of late,( injury aside) is disgraceful. why we keep percivering with him I dont get it, Surely we can get a loanee in or something.... I dont believe have reserve team players on the bench is the answer, Having players like Barnet that come off the bench and can score is . I think the key at the moment is patience, get the complete squad all fit and this barron run including scoring goals will end. I for one will be supporting the team weather we are challenging for play offs or trying to fend of the threat of relegation, having listened to the Iron fans last night sounds like I shall not be alone. We go again COYI

Look at the end of the day its gone so forget it did Devs defend it ?

Exactly stu, anyone saying that Sean let the side down were you there and did you see him elbow him? From where we were they both went up for the header, with the barnet centre half's head directly behind Sean's so can't see how he could have elbowed him.
For everyone of us that are 'kiss arses' there is one that refuse to support one of our longest serving and loyal players as you don't like his style of play.

I personally didn,t see the incident between Marksy and their CH (call of nature) but speaking to various Club officials my understanding is that they both went up for the ball and Marksy caught the CH on the upper shoulder which is hardly a sending off offence. I believe Devs called for the DVD immediately after the game to study it and see if there are grounds for an appeal.

Clear swing of the arm for me. Stupid thing to do let a lot of people down teammates supporters and manager and can't be defended.
Let's see people defend him now. As said above not the first time he has let the side down, long serving player or not. So 3 game ban but still gets his money, would be better spent elsewhere.

Well done Marks, outstanding Captaincy, you really have surpassed yourself this time. Are you going to refund us the admission fee for last night!! The very least you should do is polish the boots of all the players you do badly let down last night. You should feel ashamed. Well done the rest of the team, you battled so bravely under the immenseness of the task, you showed grit and pride in the shirt and we can't ask more than that. Well done to all the away fans last night, we sang are hearts out and showed THE BEES what true support is. Good luck for Saturday IRON at least we will have a fighting chance as the idiot with the elbows won't be there to ruin things again. Sean - when you do return try using your brain before your elbows.
