We had an interesting encounter last year when we had two sent off and let them off the hook. Barnet have really got the bit between the teeth this season, but don't we just like knocking these sides from the lofty perches.
Anyone have any idea when Payne, Marks or Strutton will next strut a football pitch in "anger"?

Looking forward to this game; Bees fans are getting carried away by their lofty position. I think that this will be their toughest away game so far and a true test of their potential and for us too, a chance to see if we're going to not just spoil the party, but be a part of it. Akinde has been pivotal for them so far winning numerous pens and scoring a few. McDonald the poacher is out injured but others have been chipping in with goals. Lee Cook (formerly QPR and Orient) and Luisma Villa are adding quality to their midfield. We need plenty of crosses as Stack is reluctant to leave his line and a few long ranges as he's also struggled with those. It'll be good to see how the old West Ham team mates get on.

Barnet have an outstanding away record, but our home form is not too shabby either, so IMO a close game hard to call!
Matt Paine is out till about Christmas I believe, but hopefully both Sean and Charlie will be pulling on an Iron shirt in the not too far distant future.

We owe them one from last season when we lost 3-0 and had two players sent off. Prematurely their fans were dancing around the railway station believing they had won the league! It's unusual that we play them again in three weeks time in the reverse fixture.

Our players did us very proud tonight. Barnet top of the table and by some came with their full time team and full of confidence and when they went a goal up it looked ominous for us. But as the half wore on we came into it and from a well worked move a Coxie headed goal got us back into it. The second half could have gone either way and by the end our heroes look shattered, so they should after their herculean effort.
We can all stand proud after tonights game.

Lee Cook also played for Watford. Sorry "dbbn" could not resist that.

A good game; Barnet's early tempo and pressing had us on the back foot. Akinde seemed to be unplayable and in the second half we looked as though we had settled on ensuring we got the "second" ball to nullify any threat. Both goals came from good crosses and well taken headers; if only Cox could've taken one of the two swipes he had at the ball. I don't know if any Iron players had read my earlier post, but we sure had a few long pots at goal; sadly all were wide, too soft, or flew over the bar.Fair play to Barnet as they kept going for the win and were the best team so far to visit Cressing Rd. Well done to the Iron boys for going toe to toe; let's take this form and effort to Gateshead.

Match kicked off at 4.45am in Australia. I didn't wake up till 5.15 just in time to hear us equalise. The rest of the game seemed open and even. The BBC Essex commentary duo - Mark Babbage and Glenn Pennyfather couldn't praise our boys enough. So well done one and all and we go again at Gateshead.
Lol@notleykev No mention of Andy Yiadom formerly of Watford I believe, as well as having played for us.

A really enjoyable game. A fair result at the end , if only Jordan had slotted that one away !. Great team effort once again, Many shining lights from the game, Ryan's powerful runs, Mitch's Confidence, Kenny's Thunderous tackle, Akinola's sublime first time control and jordan's never give up attitude made us all feel very proud. Great cross from Chez for the equaliser. I did think after 15 mins it could be a thumping with their serious aerial threat from Akinde, Ngala and Stephens, Again a team comes to Cressing road long throws and many corners and only leave with a point, Fair play to the team and defended as a unit again. I hear that Bakare has broken his leg, I wish him a speedy recovery, Does this mean we may have an emergency loan on the way ?
I must also give a special mention to The 3 ladies in the refreshment hut, They had a queue 12 long all game and worked their socks off for a great cause too. Well done ! Also for the many people who stopped and laughed and took photos of MP Mr Newmark, did make us chuckle! Onto Sat just up t' road to the Heed. COYI

As Simon says a really enjoyable game that either side could have won had they taken their chances. To put in a performance like that with just the bare bones of the squad available (7 out at the moment) just shows the spirit we have here at Braintree.
A good turnout from the Barnet fans (300 or so) for a Tuesday evening match and all were well behaved, and those I spoke to thought a draw was a fair result.

A great game and a fair result. Our goal in the first half was just about our first serious attack on goal and it seemed that the team shifted up a couple of gears from there on. A second half full off attacking flow from both sides the win was there for the taking. Big Al lead his defence all were committed to the cause. I thought that Dan Walker played the best I have seen him all season and he seems to be looking much fitter. A big up to all the fans in the Clubhouse end during the first half as there was a big mix of both sets of supporters both gave respect when each team scored.

I thought all of our team stepped up to the mark and gave 100%, don't like to single any one player out, but IMO Dan Walker ran his socks off and hopefully is now fulfilling the faith that Dev showed in signing him. When are the people of Braintree going to realise what a fantastic team they have right on their doorstep that show commitment, fight and are not overpaid namby-pambys, like most of those in Premier League.

When are the people of Braintree going to realise what a fantastic team they have right on their doorstep that show commitment, fight and are not overpaid namby-pambys, like most of those in Premier League. For the majority around town the answer's never, though a glamorous FA Cup tie often brings out the glory hunters. When I analyse Conference attendances I see a stark divide between the former league clubs with a legacy support and clubs like us, often part time and playing in an unimpressive stadium. With a new ground on the horizon the current facility has essentially become a stop-gap arrangement - With the bolt-on work having been done to satisfy league grading. Both ends lack cover plus a clutch of demountable buildings, the pitch which won't drain in winter with the associated match cancellations are all crosses the board have to carry. It also occurs to me that clubs who build a neat new stadium generally see an upsurge in attendances. I've read time and again on other clubs forums that fans are put off travelling in winter when we're at risk of losing marches through weather, who wants to spend their hard earned on what could end up being a wasted trip? If we can do as well as FGR from the Stroud area, similar in size to Braintree been in the conference for 20 or so years, have a modern ground and manage to add a few dozen season by season to average 1250, we'll have done okay imo. By the way, what is the latest position with the new ground?

Just watched the games highlights on Iron Hd and have to applaud Dan Walker for his contribution to the game. Think scoring a goal would give him the boost he/we need
