I can see Alfreton going all out in attempt to kick start their season and we'll have to be on our guard to prevent them from doing it. BBC Essex are calling this game live and the commentary can be had at this link: www.bbc.co.uk/englandcms/livestreams/int12.asxGoIRONGo!

No commentary on link voice says there may be technical fault. Watching on live text after 19 minutes 0-0 with Alfreton having 71% of the play!

Look what lightweight striker scored for Oxford! Well done Alex Well said Simon and he had the guts to step up to take a penalty in the League cup in midweek away at West Brom. Not Bad for a lightweight who some people think will never make it.

He's scored one goal; I see the Watford mafia are not going to let it lie.

It sounded as if we were slow out the gates but fortunately Alfreton also have a powder puff attack so couldn't take advantage of their early dominance. But as the game progressed and particularly in the second half we began to dominate, so much so that by the end we passed the winning post at a canter.
Well done Devs and the players. It's also pleasing that Mitch Brundle is fitting in well and as the BBC's Mark and Gordon remarked when Simeon Akinola came on with 20 minutes remaining he also looked good.

A Win is a win but first half it was like watching paint dry. Not a lot of urgency from the iron. 2nd half we did better. Sam had a much better game and Remy did everything correct.

At least the "WATFORD MAFIA" knew who Akinola was. Braintree Town FC Website, Iron Chatter, Braintree and Witham Times website and Facebook all carried the signing of Akinola in great depth. Come on "dbbn" try and keep up.

Think Barrys description of the 1st half is a little unkind, but it was nonetheless a pretty poor display. Was better 2nd half but the introduction of Sean Marks and Simeon Akinola really improved our chances up front. It was IMO much needed as both Jordan and Dan were not really troubling their defence the whole match.
Another solid display at the back from Alan Massey as always, and he and Remy Clerima seem to be forming a decent partnership. Mitch had to fill in at right back and did well but we missed his presence in the middle of the pitch.
The new lad Simeon Akinola impressed me in the 20 or so minutes he played (plenty of pace) and moving into good positions. Would like to see him start on Saturday with Sean as Jordan and Dan together doesn,t work for me.

Yes special praise needs to go out to Alan Massey who just gets better and better. Alan was also the the press's choice for man of the match.

The club's website is often lagging behind, which is why I'm always interested to here from fans in the know what they know about players. It's about time you stopped your pathetic attacks on me and removed your Watford badge. I too support another club whom I have followed for over 40 years, but I don't go on about them on here wearing rose tinted specs. I come here to discuss Braintree Town FC.

Three wins out of six is not bad but they have all been against teams likely to struggle, or already struggling. We’ve got some meaty stuff coming up – Bristol Rovers, who appear to be finding their feet, then Kidderminster, Aldershot and Eastleigh, who have all started well, with only Welling, currently third from bottom, for light relief. Then come the current top three Halifax, Barnet and Gateshead, all in a row. Once we’ve got through that lot, we might have a good idea how things are really going

Agree with onthetrrrace there as it generally takes about the first 10-12 games in most leagues to level positions out a bit so yes we shall see! I'm personally confident of safety at the very least as there are most definately a lot more poor teams in this league than usual this season

We took 17 yesterday but I understand that two failed fitness tests at the ground - hence the four subs.

"dbbn" on Friday, in reply to baswaldsmates thread, you said "He gives us something different up front", does this mean he scores goals? We now have 6 strikers on the books. Saturday, you say "only 4 subs, who is Akinoka?" I tell you it is on the Braintree Town Fc website (early Friday morning), Braintree and Witham Times WEBSITE and Iron Chatter ( to which you replied about said player) and you still question (Who is Akinola?) I have not made any PATHETIC attacks on you and i will not remove my Watford avatar. I have proudly followed Watford FC since the 1970s, long before i moved to Braintree. I do not wear rose tinted specs, or "go on" about Watford Fc. You are entitled, along with anybody else, to support or follow whoever you like. I do not comment on other peoples poor punctuation or spelling. I am sorry we do not see "eye to eye" on certain matters, but i feel your contribution on this forum, brings us down to Chelmsfords level. However, we both have the interests of Braintree Town at heart and i would like to invite you to join me, in a drink (at my expense) in the clubhouse, after the Bristol Rovers game, or a game of your choice. KEV

KEV Kev, you are quite right; I did see the website about Akinola, I can only say that my follow up question must have been a "senior" moment, so humble pie eaten in big chunks. The punctuation thing is a pet hate of mine and I know many will see it as picky, but that's just me, (I felt that you had a slight dig in your reply). It's not so much the punctuation, but the incorrect use of "of" instead of "have". I genuinely thought the "defiantly" comment was funny, although we all know he meant definitely. As for Watford, I have no gripe with them, but I do still think your allegiance comes through loud and clear at times and with bias. It's something we all do naturally.
