Iron kicked off their first competitive match of the season against Wealdstone in the Brian Collins Memorial Trophy, and picked up the winner's shield thanks to a first half goal from Dan Walker.
After a slow start when Wealdstone created a number of chances, Iron got on top and enjoyed plenty of possession. After the first half hour Wealdstone rarely threatened.
Team: 1. Nick Hamann, 2. Matt Brundle 3. Sam Habergham 4. Chez Isaacs 5. Triallist 6. Alan Massey 26. James Mulley 8. Kenny Davis (17. Matt Paine) 18. Jordan Cox (16. Dominic Green) 10. Dan Walker (9. Sean Marks) 11. Dan Sparkes (7. Ryan Case). Unused sub - Carl Pentney.
Paine and Marks started on the bench after being delayed on the journey. They were both introduced at half-time. Attendance:170, looked more. A superb 12 page colour programme was produced for £1, which was all about Wealdstone players in the First World War.
At the final whistle the trophy was presented to Sean Marks, with Braintree winning it for the first time in its twelfth season. This is the first trophy won by the first team since Alan Devonshire's arrival.

Was the trialist centre back any good? Do you know who he was?

Don't know who he was. He did OK. Bailed Brundle out a few times.

How can it be called a competitive match when it wasn't even mentioned on the website or here! Probably why not many there! Think in all the Club website needs some development, not really a lot of information on it. No squad profiles. No details on Reserve games.

I wonder when you last (or ever have) visited a webside by Team Braintree Steve? I did a google search out of curiosity and this one appeared in the results, but a click on the link: www.teambraintree.co.uk/ led me to cyberspace, so presumably it's been abandoned. It appears the closest thing the reserves have to a website as such, appears to be their facility here at Iron Chatter here: braintreeforum.proboards.com/board/4/reserves-youth
