FRIENDLIES CONTINUE WITH CAMBRIDGE VISIT
Iron host United before their return to the Football League
Braintree Town host their fourth pre-season friendly match against Football League opposition this coming Saturday, 26th July, when newly promoted Cambridge United are the visitors to the Cressing Road Stadium. Iron and United were regularly paired over the Christmas and New Year holiday during the past three years and last season saw Braintree lose 1-0 at The Abbey on Boxing Day, but win the delayed return at home 1-0 in February, courtesy of a goal from Dan Sparkes. Cambridge United went on to win promotion via the end of season play-offs. Having defeated FC Halifax Town 2-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals, The U's booked their return to The Football League after a nine year wait with a 2-1 Promotion Final victory over Gateshead at Wembley, with goals from Liam Hughes and Ryan Donaldson. Kick-off is 3pm and admission prices for the game, which is pay at the turnstiles on the day, are as follows: £10 for adults, £7 for OAPs and those still in full time education, £5 for under 16s and £3 for under 11s. A small quantity of programmes will be on sale at 50p.
