Good performance and work out today and another defeat for the Shrimpers. Bakare played well, scoring the opener, always on the move and had good pace; I think he could be well worth a punt. Chez ran himself into the ground and Kenny kept things ticking over. Massey was as solid as ever and I think with Paine beside him; they will make another solid pairing. The trialist who played alongside him had a decent game apart from getting caught out on a David Luiz type run. The trialist at right back also looked decent and the onlooking Peters should be concerned. Marks was a concern as he laboured ponderously and won few headers; hopefully Cox can push on and give him a battle for a starting place. Lots of trialists came on in the second half; not overly impressed with the bearded striker who should've done better with a couple of chances. Some energetic midfielders came on and looked comfortable running with the ball although in their eagerness to impress often led to a wayward shot, or a pass leading to a Southend break. Mulley again performed okay but as usual faded in and out; where is Charlie Strutton (still injured?)? If we can pick up a full back, centre back, 2 midfielders and a striker, we can hopefully progress onwards and upwards again.

Nothing personal about the person, just the difference of opinions what are so far apart from my own. How can I take it seriously when expressed we need 5 new player's. That's half the team. are we that crap?

I don't normally comment but everybody is entitled to their own comments without getting criticised , I still personally think we need more defenders , cant see why certain people who have there own opinions get criticised on here so thats why i dont come on here very much any more as I made a suggestion to the club and got slated for it , we need to get behind the team

The "not overly impressive bearded striker" has outscored the rest of the players on the pitch yesterday put together. Just turned 31, he retired from football in May 2013 after 557 competitive games and 294 goals for Ruislip Manor, Hayes, Uxbridge, AFC Wibledon, Braintree (on loan in 2007-08, 8 games 2 goals), Carshalton, Sutton & (mainly) Wealdstone.

Shame young Maybanks was on the bench and was not used, although Devs was seen talking with a shoulder round him, before the game!

Why don't stevet and notleykev give their views of the game so we can compare opinions without pointless jibes!

Richard Jolly! Now that's a blast from the past a top striker for Wealdstone from our Ryman days.
Regarding Notley Kev's quip about specsavers, I thought it was quite witty. Word of warning for anyone with a glass jaw never post at other football clubs forums this is about as genteel as it gets.

Hi,
First post here. That impressed by the game, I thought I'd add my voice to the tide of opinion. Really impressed by Bakare and the 2 "triallists": I think those could be the three new players we need (not 5 as above). Really surprised there's no mention on the main website of any new signings.

As I understand it; we don't have that many players actually signed. According to the club website; the following are contracted: Dean Wells, Alan Massey, Jordan Cox, Sean Marks, Chez Isaac, Kenny Davis and Nick Hamann have all signed new contracts. - of which Wells has left for Stevenage. 6 players Sam Habergham has agreed to extend his contract next season and goalkeeper Nathan McDonald has indicated that he will be returning to Cressing Road for 2014/2015 - 2 players Both Dan Sparkes and Dan Walker signed contracts at the Club - 2 players Braintree Town have re-signed 25-year old striker Charlie Strutton - 1 player So I make that 11 players in total, so yes we do need more than the 3 you suggest.

Ladies please come on , The whole idea of forums is for supporters to air their views on issues surrounding the club. I always give MY view on the games I watch and dont have to kiss asse to anyone, The trouble with the iron is it is deemed an old boys club and people are afraid to upset the apple cart. I aired my views on Sean Marks performances last season and got slated , but again that was my opinion ! The club I feel needs to be more proactive in many areas, Updating the main website, Transfer updates on the forums, Press releases etc.But I guess that all comes from being part time. Having attended the supporters meeting recently I was amazed that the focus was on away travel etc, Surely the main focus is to attract more fans to home matches and grow the support from that. Lets be honest I dont actually care if i could save a fiver travelling to Macclesfield. If I am gonna go I am gonna go! Most of our trips involve giving up most of the day and not many people I know can dedicate that time to going to Gateshead, Southport, Fgr etc. Lets get people in the amlin and create awareness round the town , Sponsor or stick a sign up at Mcdonalds roundabout.Surely it is the home games where the club makes any money? I went to the Norwich game and was gutted at the low turnout considering such a great Player turnout from our opponents. But like a lot of people I spoke to no one was aware of this fixture taking place. On the pitch ' In Devs we trust' . Im not worried just sort out Central defnce partner for Al and off we go. I hope all the people who freely write on here inc the new guys will be coming to the next supporters meeting. Sorry for waffling and sorry dbbn for my grammatical errors im all about content not context.

Yep agree with all of that.
Braintree have become my second club since I moved into the area and lots of very good things have happened at the club since I started taking an interest, however it's a bit like treading on eggshells posting opinions on here sometimes.
I appreciate Braintree is a small club and relies on volunteers a lot but to me the need for a full time Commercial Manager to seek out sponsorships and drag the media side of the club into the 21st century stands out like a sore thumb. Not just about raising revenue but also awareness and raising the clubs profile.

So can anyone tell us the current status of Matt Paine, Ryan Peters, and James Mulley, two of whom played on Saturday?

From my unqualified opinion, or rant, Dev knows more about football than most, if not all of us. A fans opinion is usually comes from his passion for the club,(like Simon) To follow any club involves a sense of humor, That is where notleykev and people like him come in handy when football kicks us all in the small dangly things. Blackpool for example are no doubt pulling themselves apart right now, if humor and loyalty are missing there then they are doomed. I think they need more than another defender and a forward to hit the ground running. Braintree FC have given me four of the best results in my football supporting life against My Teams most hated rival, and for that I will always be grateful. In short for a part time club it seems to be doing ok so far in the country's top Non league division. Enjoy the ride of the season.
