Team - Nathan McDonald (sub - Keiron Colville), Eli Moses, Sam Habergham, Chez Isaacs (sub - Joe Maybanks), Matt Paine, Joe Moore (sub - George Pullen), Harrison Georgiou (sub - Matt Baxter), Ronnie Hawkins, Sean Marks, Frank Murrayfield, Dan Sparkes (sub - Ryan Case).
H.T. 0-0 F.T 0-7 Goals - Marks 2 (55 mins, 62 mins), Sparkes 3 (67 mins, 71 mins, 73 mins), Isaac 1 (1 pen - 58 mins), Hawkins 1 (89 mins) Attendance 101
Some of the other players - Colville - longstanding Iron fan and steward. Played last 15 mins. Like all goalkeepers on the day, barely had a touch. Georgiou - released by Leyton Orient in Jan 14. Had a loan spell at St. Albans and has since played for Marlow. Hawkins - Irish youth international. After being released by Tottenham, had a trial game for Ajax U21 which was watched by Frank and Ronald de Boer, Dennis Bergkamp and Johann Cruyff. Signed a contract with Cardiff City in 2012.
Our established players were head and shoulders above the rest here. Sparkes was absolutely outstanding, grabbing a 6 minute hat-trick and would probably have got one or two more if he hadn't turned his ankle while trying to force the ball over the line in a goalmouth scramble. Marks took his goals well and looked sharp and Isaacs was very busy. The first half was goalless but once we went ahead it was all one way traffic and the first 6 came in an 18 minute spell. Moses looked the pick of the bunch once he pushed forward in second half.
These two games represented a good first day work out, although Stanway and Long Melford rarely passed the half way line and Norwich on Tuesday will represent a dramatic step up in quality.

Heard young Maybanks, not quite 17 yet!, had pretty good games yesterday when he came on. Any comments?

I was really impressed with the ex Tottenham youngster, he played midfield and wore the number 8 shirt. Not shy of an honest challenge
