I see one or two lads have gone to play football in America. But whats happening to any of the other youngsters, will they be given a chance? Joe Maybanks played well in the Reserves and also for the 1st Team in some of the Essex Trophy, he was also given a squad number. Does anyone know if he is in the Managers mind/plans this year?

Does anyone know if he is in the Managers mind/plans this year? I would assume that that'd be a given, or what's the point of running reserves or youth? The big and ongoing problem with reserves is in bridging the gulf between Ridgeons and Conference National, it's a huge step up. Don't the club have an open door policy where aspiring players can attend Tues and Thurs night training to get assessed.

The youth team is still very much in it's early building program, the academy is going from strength to strength. Samo and devs are in contact on a regular basis and if a exceptional player pop's up devs will take a look at the young lad. many a team have good academies and a lot depends on the levels of the lad's they are trying to reach. Training with the 1st team at the moment are some 18/19 year olds with 1st team experience from their previous club's at a lot higher level then many of our first team players. One lad who's coming up to 19 comes from Sheffield Wednesday highly rated but looking for more game time. Testerment to what btfc can offer for these young players that we can draw to us. The bar is very high and it will take someone very very good just to compete with those young lads. But over time we will get there.
