With the TDF coming close to Braintree on Monday are there many fans going to watch it? Where's the place to go for access. Anyone on for an Iron corner?

Rayne would be nearest to Braintree I think, I expect Finchingfield to be packed out - A definite opportunity to getting an IRON flag on International TV.

I would not mind going and meeting up with some Iron fans in the Rayne part of the race. Getting to it though will be the biggest issue

I'm not sure of the exact route, but on BBC Essex, it sounds as if the tour is skirting around Braintree, Bannister Green, Rayne up to Finchingfield via Shalford Green and Shalford, so there might be strategic viewing points in the countryside near Saling airfield area and which can be accessed from the Panfield side of town? Actually I had the route in reverse, saw it on box, there looked huge crowds at Finchingfield and Rayne and the chopper stayed to the wrong side of the road to give viewers an aerial shot of Braintree itself

Ended up going to Walden in the end. A great day, I was pleased to be part of the experience of Le Tour.
