TWO DANS SIGN UP
Sparkes and Walker - sign contracts at the Club
Braintree Town Manager Alan Devonshire has added two more players to his squad for the forthcoming 2014/2015 season. Both Dan Sparkes and Dan Walker signed contracts at the Club last (Thursday) night. Dan Sparkes is 22 and has spent two years at Cressing Road following his move in the summer of 2012 from Histon. He has already made eighty appearances for The Iron and scored three goals last season. Dan Walker is 24 and rejoins the Club after spending last season with Hereford United. Equally at home in a midfield role or up front, Dan previously spent a spell on loan at the Club in February 2013, when he made four appearances.

Am I the only one who felt slightly let down by this heading? It led us to expect Sparkes and Holman, not Sparkes and Walker. I don't remember much about Dan Walker's brief spell with us but he wasn't in Holman's class.

Dan gave Deano and Massey a good game when he was at Hereford last season, happy with him as a replacement for Dan Holman.

Pleased we've got Dan W but can't help thinking we need a more prolific striker i.e. Strutts

Indeed.. strutz would be the icing on the cake. Did we try for him or not? Or was he not part of devs master plan?

I think Walker is a good addition to the squad. He looked good when he was here on loan.
I don't know how true this is but I heard Strutton had been released by AFC Wimbledon and was coming to us for pre season.

I do wish people would give straight answers on here. I might just wait till Aug 9th and see who is in the starting 11. I wonder if we might see a Sheringham popping over the river sssccchhh

No. Can't see how it infers that it would be Sparkes and Holman that would be signing, it's a factual statement we have signed Two Dan's - you assumed one was Holman but nothing in the post by IW and Baswaldsmates post the other day states either Sparkes or Holman would be re-signing, Danny Sparkes re-signing is good news IMHO. Dan Walker is a good acquisition well done the club for securing his services.

Deffo agree that walkers a good addition n I see no reason why he can't put away 15-20 goals for us especially if we create the chances we created last season but didnt put away. Looked decent when we had him on loan and scored some decent goals against us. Don't think he got much of a run at Luton

Dan walker is a good add to the team he can play wide or upfront in he's preferred position with the right service this guy could easily score 15 or more goals a season he's good in the air and quick on the ground and he likes to make a lot of runs behind defences
