Just a reminder that kick off is at 5.15PM and played at the Hive Stadium and unlike me you haven't spent a week planning to visit the Underhill! If traveling by public transport the most convenient underground stations are Queensbury on the Jubilee Line or Edgware on the Northern line.
Lets hope for a big vocal turnout. COYI

Canons Park on the Jubilee Line is a little bit closer. Just turn left out of the station, cross the road and pop through Prince Edwards Playing Field.

There is engineering works and a partial closure on the northern section of the Jubilee line best to take the Met line to Wembley Park and change there.

It's going to be a big ask against Grimsby, but at least we are still there.

We must be disappointed with today's result. I mentioned before that it's hard to criticise a manger that has done amazing things this season and taken us to the brink of the play offs, but now we are almost there we want that final spot.
What I don't get are the substitutions, we had players literally out on their feet in the final 30 minutes but it took Dev ages to make the final 2 subs. Mulley was knackered, as was Chez, who was also poor today and we had like for like fresh players on the bench.
We needed a player to put his foot on the ball and pass it, but just continued to pump the ball up to the 2 strikers, there is just no plan B.
Let's hope Cambridge can do us a favour next week and the boys can top off a fantastic season with a win.

There's still a chance. I thought Barnet were okay today, but we offer so little in attack it has to be said. Great turnout by the Iron faithful.

Sadly it was a poor performance.
Given what was at stake the first half was mind-blowingly awful with very little urgency other than the back four who did OK. Second half was better but their was a lack of quality upfront Holman looks knackered as does Marks and Jordan Cox is not really up to it, thought Mulley did OK but some of the senior pro's needed to stand up and lead the way today and they didn't.
Been a great season but a Minor miracle now required.

We should not forget that there are 18 teams in our division that would gladly exchange places with us ...

And we can't finish any lower than seventh, so an improvement of at least two places on last year. The highest placed part time club - or are Gateshead or Halifax part time? At least the highest placed club with no Football League experience.
Some of the criticisms above may be valid, but there are still far more pluses than minuses.

I would like to say a big thank you to Dev's his backroom staff and to the best football team in Essex. Thanks for a great season and all the hard work you guys have put in you are an amazing bunch of lads and it is a privilege to support you. This coming Saturday . Let's just party and celebrate the great season. You've given us.whatever position we finish in it's been a great achievement. I just hope this team stays together for next season because with Dev`s leadership we will go from strength to strength.and I wish you lads ( and Dev,s and Keith) a well-deserved break

To get some one with the quality to consistently be able to put the ball in the net is what makes the difference in this league. We had several chances to put this game beyond Barnet and take us into the play offs but didn't take them. I also felt that the team were very fatigued and they couldn't muster a sustained period of pressure. Considering the trials and tribulations, the home game against Barnet and the Referee in the Salisbury game, the amount of games we had to make up and the marathon week of long distant games the Iron have done fantastic.

Thought we should have taken the 3 points yesterday; Barnet weren't really interested and showed why they were not good enough to finish in the top 5. Have to echo Iron Webbo's comments; but would be great to extend the season a bit longer.

A mixed bag of comments on here regarding the game and I have to agree it was a mixed game, players looking tired and not 100% up for it. Cannot fault their goal moment of real class and a Pen was really the only way we was going to score. I like everyone else on this forum hopes for a minor miracle from our neighbours and that we beat Grimsby 3 nil but in reality I think 6th is our spot. We again will look back on a season of great achievments and where we lost points and what might have beens if Dan s pen against Gateshead had gone in, Where would we be if Bernie had not been so cruelly robbed from us and Why did we not beat Hereford, maccs and Salisbury of late. The car journey on the way home sparked many debates and one was looking forward to next season what changes to personel would we make, Strong agreement was leave the defence alone as still the 3rd best goals concedded record is something to be proud of. But slate me if you want, Sean has to go and I even said maybe we should cash in on Dan, I feel deep down Devs knows this but loyalty is prevailing. Look at what loanees came in over the season , Alex, Charlie and Bernard . I am sorry but 6 goals from tyour number 9 is not good enough, We need a 18/20 goals a seson two stikers to push on and we just dont have that. Anyone who wants to question me on this can look back on Iron Hd and see how many missed chances over the season have been spurred. Southport 31 chances 1 goal to name one. Luton last kick of the match a better quality of stiker would have made that 2-2. Anyway I hope this creates some interest, if not only for my grammatical errors !! Team ratings for today Nik -6 Little to do and was lucky with off the post bounce Ryan 7- Not till 2nd half got forward Sam 7- Award for mr reliable of the season for me Dean- 7 Worked hard and unlucky with looping header Alan 7 - Solidand strong .... Again Matt 5 Poor game from him Chez -6 Surprised to see him start looks out of puff Kenny 6- Got going forward 2nd half and more of a threat James 6- Little end product, His goal scoring record is not great Dan H - 5 Looks like he is out of sorts and cant remember him having a shot Sean 4- Won little, Did little scored none.
Subs Josh 5- Failed to make any impact Jordan 6 Needs help from a quality partner to feed off Dan S 5 Too little time to change anything Luke Oh thats right he did nt come on Again! Thought he should of started but what do I know.
On a positive note Great groud and facilites hopefully we can emulate in time, Travelling support was great think we took less to Luton, Barnet fans were so quiet it was a embarrasment. Note to lad with Drum, please stop it reminded me of my 10 month old son but he stops after 2 minutes not insanely banging away for 90 and Half time , seriously. See you all Sat what ever will be Que Sera sera. COYI

Dev will have to pick out a lower league gem from somewhere but it's been a great season whatever.

Agreed, Dan Holman was heralded to be that man last season, even Histon fans were forecasting he'd be prolific at this level. To buy a proven scorer at this level is beyond our pockets I think. Our best hope is a loanee from a league club, which we already do but never seem to hang on to any of them for much more than a month.

Ironmansimon are you sure your a Braintree fan. Saying which players should go and who they should sell on. Keeping as much of the squad together for next season is a must. Being such a tough season all the players have done great. So what if they have a bad match at times, it doesn't mean they should be sold on or just shown the door. If we make the play offs then great but if we don't then so be it. All players have put so much effort in.

Been a fan since the days of George Rosling as chairman and seen every home game now for last 2 seasons and away ones within reason, all I was saying was to move forward for next season where we need to strenghten is the forwards, its been no secrect that Phil brown has been down to see Dan Holman this season and with regards to Sean I just want to see his name on the score sheet some more. The reality of prob missing out on the play offs is always a time for reflection and looking at the table our goals scored is poor. I will be statto later and calculate our shots to goals ratio just to validate my point. I am proud to support my local team and recognise where we are and where we have come from. If this was a premier league team people would be agreeing with my point, Spurs and Soldado, Negrado and Man City of late, Benteke of Villa. I hope you get the comparison. Ill be showing my loyal support as always on sat. I hope you will be too.

Braintree fans are the greatest, you hardly ever see the team slagged off after a defeat and we fully appreciate what Devs and the team are doing. With Marksy we mustn't forget the work he gets through, yes the scoring touch hasn't been there, but he adds a lot more, one minute he's leading the attack and his presence is always felt by defenders and then he's heading away corners in the middle of the defence only seconds later.

Marksy will never be a 20 goal a season striker, but he is the focal point of our attack and does an awful lot of spade work for others, he is the physical presence that is much needed in this league.
10 to 12 Goals a season and lots of assists and hard work - great player at this level IMHO.
